"It had
long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment
rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out
and happened to things."

2003 Salinas
Airmarking
A fresh coat of paint made all the difference
in the world to the airmarkings at Salinas airport. We had a
patriotic choice of red, white and blue paint at our disposal.
White was the predominant paint for the SALINAS letters and 119.4
tower frequency numbers. The Ninety-Nines' compass rose really
looked spiffy with the refreshed blue and white color scheme.
Our Chapter had also received a request to repaint the red cross
landing target for the Calstar medivac helicopter, hence the
red paint.
Many thanks to our very
organized Airmarking Chair Michaele Serasio who brought son George
and friend Brian to lend a hand, our Chapter photographer Ann
Walker, Chapter members Dana Cefalu, Mona Kendrick, Pat York,
Laura Barnett and daughter Michaela, Louise Minniear, Sarah Chauvet,
Pam Cabak, and yours truly. After a nourishing lunch of cold
cut sandwiches, chips & cookies, we all decided
we really did not want to return on Sunday since rain was forecast
for Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Needless to say we really
boogied with the rest of the project. The wind came up as it
always does in the afternoon in Salinas making it a challenge
to pour the paint and Michaele had the foresight to have asphalt
paint on hand to cover our boo-boos.
Great job all you hard
workers!
Mary Saylor
